About the Role

JOBY is looking for an Industrial Designer III to lead the design of physical products that go everywhere creators go. Based in our Monrovia, CA facility, you'll work closely with our R&D team and CEO — owning projects from first sketch through mass production.

This is a hands-on role for someone who thinks in materials, builds to learn, and cares as much about how a product feels as how it works.

What You'll Do

• Lead design and development of new products — phone mounts, camera supports, and related accessories
• Own projects end-to-end: concept, prototyping, validation, and mass production
• Develop and iterate 3D CAD models and functional prototypes, balancing performance, durability, and cost
• Apply deep knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and tooling to ensure scalable, quality production
• Partner with product, sourcing, and operations teams to hit timeline and quality targets
• Collaborate with suppliers and external partners on DFM optimization
• Research emerging materials, technologies, and trends to keep JOBY ahead
• Mentor junior designers and contribute to a strong technical culture

What You Bring

• Bachelor's in Industrial Design or related field
• 5+ years of product design experience in consumer products or tech
• A proven track record shipping high-volume consumer products
• Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent CAD tools
• Strong command of plastics, aluminum, tooling, and mass production methods
• Hands-on prototyping instincts and a practical, problem-solving mindset
• Clear communicator who collaborates well across functions
