JOBY Launches GorillaTorch 100 and GorillaTorch Flare 125 for Camping and Outdoor Adventures, and Everyday Needs

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., June 11, 2012 JOBY is pleased to announce two higher-output updates for its outdoor and task-friendly flashlight designs: GorillaTorch 100 and GorillaTorch Flare 125. These popular, hands-free tools are re-engineered to illuminate any target with brighter light than ever—featuring a 100-lumen CREE LED in the GorillaTorch 100 and a 125-lumen CREE LED in the GorillaTorch Flare 125.

First launched in 2009, JOBY's GorillaTorch flashlight line quickly became a favorite tool among campers, gadget-lovers and DIYers who use the flexible, bendable legs to cast light on virtually any space for a number of tasks.

"We've been inspired by the creative, inventive and practical ways in which our customers have used their hands-free GorillaTorches—from lighting a dark space in the attic to working under the hood of a car," said Laura Kawakami, JOBY brand and product marketing director."Our brighter updates are timed to inspire more ways to illuminate this summer's activities, such as shining a light on a camp kitchen, or retrieving an item from a tent without disturbing others."

Both the GorillaTorch 100 and GorillaTorch Flare 125 feature JOBY's award-winning, bendable and flexible leg design, allowing users to illuminate numerous spaces. Rubber grip rings and powerful neodymium magnetic feet secure the lights to virtually any surface. Both products come with three AA batteries that provide up to 80 hours of run time—and the uniform battery orientation provides for a quick replacement—even in the dark. Lightweight and portable, impact- and water-resistant, GorillaTorches make ideal companions for outdoor and travel adventures.

The updated GorillaTorch 100 now delivers 100 lumens of brilliant light and features a dimmer switch to adjust the brightness. Its intense spot beam illuminates up to 190 meters up a trail or on the beach. Also re-tooled for brighter and more intense light, the GorillaTorch Flare 125 provides 125-lumen white light (at three brightness levels), plus red light for night vision. Its six light modes include a handy red-and-white emergency strobe and a memory feature of the last mode used.

The new GorillaTorch 100 ($29.95 US MSRP) is available in charcoal, lime green and dark blue. The new GorillaTorch Flare 125 ($34.95 US MSRP) comes in classic black and red. Both may be purchased through Joby.com.
