Peter Stathis, the highly-decorated industrial designer and principal at Virtual Studio in San Francisco, specializes in an entrepreneurial approach to the design and development of furnishings and consumer products. The winner of the Editors Award for Best Lighting at ICFF for two of the past three years, over this same period, his lighting designs have earned numerous other awards including; Interior Design magazine Best of Year Award, the International Design Excellence Award (IDEA), the I.D. Annual Design Review, the Spark Design And Architecture Award and the prestigious Red Dot Design Award. Stathis’ work is exhibited internationally and is included in the permanent collections of major museums including The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture & Design, The Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum, and The Museum of Modern Art in New York.
Peter Stathis began his relationship with JOBY as part of the JOBY: Inspired pop-up shop which took place in the fall of 2009. There he presented a lighting creation that used JOBY’s ball-and-socket design language as the basis for an indoor lamp. Since then, the JOBY and Peter Stathis relationship has evolved into a partnership which will be revealed in May as part of the JOBY | Peter Stathis Venture Collaboration.
