Which GorillaPod Is Right For Your Camera?

You made the big decision. You have decided to purchase a GorillaPod to help stabilize your camera or smartphone to help you take better photos and video. You’ve come to our site to check out which model is right for you device, but you’re just not sure which one is the perfect fit. We’re here to help! We’ve researched most of the popular cameras and smartphones, and created this handy guide to take the guess work out of it all.

Which GorillaPod is right for my DSLR, Mirrorless, or Point and Shoot?

If you own a DSLR, mirrorless, or point and shoot camera, we've got four GorillaPods that are perfect for you. The lightest option, the Original, then the Hybrid, the SLR Zoom, and the heavyweight, the Focus. The simple way to figure out which GorillaPod is for you is to know your camera’s weight with lens and any accessories you may be using like a mic or external light. Once you have the total weight, you can see how it lines up with the maximum capacity of each GorillaPod.

Maximum Weight Capacity

If you own a point and shoot camera weighing under .71 lbs, a GorillaPod Original can suffice if you’d like to keep everything compact. If your camera weighs anything more than .71 lbs, you should upgrade to the GorillaPod Hybrid.

If you own a mirrorless camera, like any of the Sony Alpha mirrorless cameras, a GorillaPod Hybrid will support the weight of your camera and lens just fine. For added support, you can upgrade to a GorillaPod SLR-Zoom if you have a vlog setup with external mic.

If you own a DSLR camera, there’s a greater chance you’ll have to move up to the SLR-Zoom to ensure you have enough support for your rig. For the ultimate support up to 11 lbs, the GorillaPod Focus is there ready for any challenge. To help you choose, we’ve done a bit of homework and compiled a list of the popular DSLR models with the GorillaPods we recommend to support them. Camera weights include kit lens.
