JOBY set to innovate GorillaMobile along with Apple’s iPad 2

Today, as many of you most likely know, Apple announced their newest version of the iPad. Armed with a front- and back-facing camera, faster speeds and multi-tasking features all in a thinner package, the iPad 2 is poised to be the must-have device for reading, cooking, gaming and picture-taking. So, what’s JOBY planning to do about it?

We are thrilled! JOBY purposely created the GorillaMobile Ori and Yogi for iPad to serve as platforms for the iPad as Apple continues to improve on its masterpiece. Plus, with the added camera, the positioning and stabilization that Ori and Yogi offer become even more important for capturing images or communicating with loved ones.

Following on the enormous success launch of the GorillaMobile Ori and Yogi at CES, we are ready to kick it up a notch to enhance the improvements on the iPad 2. The versatility of the Yogi will enable the same sort of electronic acrobatics you have come to expect from a JOBY product. With flexible and bendable legs that attach to any height, the GorillaMobile Yogi will make picture taking from extreme angles a breeze, plus with amazing ability to adapt to uneven surfaces, the Yogi will take the improved memory of the iPad 2 to the next level allowing for lazy Sundays filled with music, video watching, magazine devouring and food creating hours.

For the Mobile Pro, the sleek, ergonomic protection of the Ori will protect the iPad on-the-go and fold into exactly the right angle for any activity you may want from your iPad including maximizing your next conference call with the front-facing camera and Skype. The Ori is constructed from a super strong, German-made, aluminum and polypropylene composite which provides the case with lightweight yet rigid stability so that it can achieve 15 inches of extended ergonomic positioning in viewing modes. Precise positioning and stabilization, something JOBY knows a thing or two about, are even more compelling features when using cameras for photo-taking, video recording and video calling.

Keep your eyes peeled- the next generation of GorillaMobile Ori and GorillaMobile Yogi for iPad will be available for purchase at select retail locations in June of this year.

Do the current cases fit the new iPad? I am dying to get a yogi. I believe the new iPad has the same x-y dimensions but thinner. Does this affect how it fits in the yogi?

Yes, iPad 2 will need a new version of the GorillaMobile Yogi. The good news is…we are working on it!

in June? really, you are going to aloud the competitors to grab costumer for all most 3 month before you introduce your product to the market? Duds somebody should be
    re-thinking that kind of “estratigery”

JOBY’s cases are specifically designed to maximize the value of the iPad. Unfortunately, we do not get access to Apple products before the general public so we are moving as fast as possible to ensure a JOBY level product that is appropriate for the new version of the iPad.

Will the current Ori work with the iPad 2 or will it also need re-design?

Agreed Ipad 2 dropped dropped the price of the Ipad. Why wouldn’t it do the same for the case?

Your GorillaMobile product is truly one of the best innovations I’ve seen yet for the original iPad. I am confident that, like me, many people eagerly await the iPAD 2 version.

That thing is made of a material I have never really seen. It must be expensive. It looks like it is the material that the Aviiq laptop stand is made out of. Haven’t seen it in person…

As you’re redesigning the Yogi for the iPad 2, might I suggest that the case be such that it can also work in conjunction with the new magnetic iPad Smart Cover? Should be easy enough to notch out the case so that the magnetic hinges on the Smart Cover can be in contact with the metal on the iPad. That’d be ideal, thanks.

Please make sure the slot for the charger is a bit bigger. This is the same slot for the USB/SD reader and it does not fit :-( I had to pop it out of the case just to load an image card.

I think the Ori is the BEST iPad case by far. Although I was bummed it was not designed to work with accessory attachments like the Apple camera kit. The case is cut only for the charger. I hope the iPad 2 version of the Ori will allow space for larger connectors.

Another suggestion…a material that is resistant to scratching. Silver aluminum is awesome looking, but unfortunately shows scratches so easily after a lot of use. Maybe a less expensive plastic matte material would be a great option?

But regardless of what Joby has in mind for the iPad 2 Ori, I cannot wait to get the Ori for my new iPad 2. It feels awkward without it! :)

Hey naysayers, look around & see what other’s give you for a $75 & up iPad case. This is the only one I’ve seen that can protect your investment if you fumble it & drop it on the ground. It’s worth every penny they’re charging. If like the 1st generation case it has it’s own felt-backed cover you can throw that $40 donation to Apple away.

I have the Joby for iPAD and It’s a great design,… Whenever I use it in public, people always take a second look at it and many are amazed with my Joby case. It has been very useful for me and by far it is the best and most sensible product I’ve seen in the market for iPAD.

My only complain is, it’s a bit wobbly when am you using the keyboard when i type. Maybe put a locking device to stablize it on your next design.

I havent bough an ipad 2 because Im so used to using my first gen with my joby case. I really cant give up the functionality of the case for the speed and cameras of the ipad 2. So please hurry up and make the next version before the ipad 3 comes out and your behind the 3 party accessory train again.

    2 questions:

    1. Since your March 2 post (it’s now April 29th), is everything on schedule?

    2. Would the adhesive of the Hand-e-holder ( work with the case? I would love to be able to protect my iPad2 with the case and be able to hold it and rotate it with one hand using the hand-e-holder.

    F. Y. I. The iPad 2 does fit and function in this case although it does fit a little sloppy. And if its not closed fully when dropped( short dist. on carpet) iPad 2 will pop out of case tray.

Most importantly the GorillaMobile Ori for iPad 2 will be designed specifically for the new form factor of the iPad 2. Plus, the new iPad 2 has a camera – JOBY loves photography.
